"It plummeted into the sea at full speed": A small plane carrying six people crashes off the coast of San Diego.

A twin-engine Cessna 414 plane, registered N414BA, carrying six people, crashed into the ocean off Point Loma on Sunday shortly after taking off from San Diego International Airport (SAN) en route to Phoenix, Arizona.

The aircraft belonged to Arizona-based Optimal Health Systems and took off around 12:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. UTC). According to Flightradar24 data, the flight path shows the pilot made two complete 360-degree turns before veering sharply southwest and disappearing from radar.

Witnesses reported that the plane descended through the clouds "at full speed" before hitting the water. Authorities confirmed that the impact occurred about 8 kilometers (5 miles) offshore, in an area near Sunset Cliffs, where the ocean is estimated to be 200 feet (61 meters) deep.

They are looking for possible survivors

The U.S. Coast Guard detected a debris field in the area and began searching for the fuselage and possible survivors. The condition of the occupants has not yet been confirmed.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are already investigating the accident.

Initial radar images indicate that the aircraft performed unusual maneuvers before crashing , raising multiple hypotheses about a possible mechanical failure, disorientation, or an onboard emergency.

On social media, local media outlets such as La Prensa San Diego and users like reporter Todd Paron shared images of the crashed model, as well as the erratic trajectory recorded by radar. The incident has generated shock among the local community and aviation enthusiasts.
